Nandyal - Oxford Link
The town of Nandyal in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, is the Centre for Nandyal Diocese. The diocese has a strong missionary emphasis and there are over 200 evangelists whose primary task is to make contact with those outside the Church and to build relationships within which the Gospel can be shared effectively and relevantly.
There has been an educational link between our dioceses for some time and these will continue. The Nandyal Link Committee has an emphasis on mutual sharing and learning from each others’ strengths – and weaknesses too, probably! Nandyal’s mission orientation and involvement will be of particular interest.
Several visits have been organized of people from Nandyal to Oxford and vice versa. These have been stimulating and useful for those who have taken part. We trust that there will be ways of developing contacts between a wide range of people in both situations so that the link is owned by ‘the diocese’. We are pleased that Bishop Lawrence of Nandyal is attending the PWM Day on 15th October.
