23 visitors from four corners of Växjö Diocese visited Oxford Diocese between Monday 28 and Thursday 31 May 2012. Växjö Diocese is deeply engaged in a programme, Till tro!, which takes its inspiration from the Oxford Diocese ‘Living Faith’ idea but which has been developed in ways appropriate to the Swedish context. The trip was funded by the European Social Fund.
The aim of the group was to compare notes with parishes in Oxford Diocese on the implementation and experience of ‘Living Faith’ in the diocese.
The group was led by Margareta Andersson, a project manager working for a consultancy, ‘Coompanion’ and also a member of the Diocesan and National Synods. Among the group were clergy, deacons, parish workers, music directors, PCC members (or the equivalent) and even a church treasurer.
Two of the parishes represented, Lekeryd and Månsarp, are in the northern part near Jönköping. Lekeryd is interested in contacts with parishes in England.
One section of the group came from Northern Öland, an island in the Baltic joined to the mainland by a bridge.
And the fourth parish represented was Tingsryd, to the south of Växjö.
On the Tuesday, the group met Michael Beasley, the director of the Oxford Diocese Department of Mission and in the afternoon travelled in their fleet of hire cars to the Parish of St Peter and St Paul, Newport Pagnell. Beverly Hollins has sent the following account of the visit and pictures:
Plenty to do at Newport Pagnell as can be seen from the above pictures!
