This young girl brings her brother, Emanuel to the Amani Centre for Persons with Disabilities in Morogoro, Tanzania, three times a week for physiotherapy. Emanuel has cerebral palsy and severe learning difficulties. Established in 1993 by Mama Bakhita, the Centre supports children and families of the disabled through community based rehabilitation. In 2010 the Centre was adopted by the RC Diocese of Morogoro.
In 2005 Bridget and Leslie Green established the UK charity, Friends of Amani Tanzania. Since then the Parish of St Luke’s with St Barthomolew, Reading, has provided regular financial support to Amani. This is a wonderful example of Roman Catholic and Anglican Churches working together in the furtherance of our Lord’s Gospel.
